Either relational or object oriented? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ssamayoa · 2010-06-18 06:36 I dont know if are FP compatible: - NexusDB  - commercial - http://nexusdb.com - very mature - Flash Filler - open source - seems abandonware - http://sourceforge.net/projects/tpflashfiler Why you want a database in pascal? If you need an embedded database you can use sqlite or Firebird. Regards. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gerardus · 2010-06-21 03:03 Hi, DBISAM and ElevateDb from Elevate Software (http://www.elevatesoft.com/) are written in Object Pascal. IIRC, DBISAm is Delphi/CBuilder only, and ElevateDB can be compiled with FPC. I wonder what compiler do they use such that they decided to port it from Pascal? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2010-07-05 13:07 Quote from: Leledumbo on July 05, 2010, 02:37:25 pmQuoteI've heard that the SAPDB database originally was in Pascal (but afaik it has been changed after a complete rewrite)Indeed. People stopped saying me that when I ported my CG libraries from C++ to Object Pascal. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2010-07-06 04:12 QuoteI don't think the reasons are technical, more corporate policyOh, that's actually the main reason why corporate backed-up languages hold the market. I don't think the reasons are technical, more corporate policy (taken during a series of mergers) There might have been other reasons: - The Pascal Compiler they used probably did not support OOP - It might not support all the platforms they wanted to target (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, Iris, Tru64 etc) - Maybe it was difficult to get Pascal programmers in a market dominated by C++
