Send Notifications (Firebird 2.1/2.5) & Zeos. lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fredycc · 2010-05-26 11:36 Hi again, I was thinking about, What is the best way to send notifications (email/sms) from a database in this case firebird; I was working with events with interbase years ago; Firebird & Zeos give me this great feature into lazarus(win/linux) works. With this feature in mind I want create (service/program/udf) to send notifications; some times after insert/update/delete anothers needs program a time for each notifications. Ideas: 1. Crate a UDF for firebird. But what happens if the email server hangs? How to control this exeception, how impact to my db server? 2. Create a Service/program. Maybe use threads for it after event trigger.  I'm thinking use Indy to send email, i have a little application that send email; and now I'm working in a program to send sms, I'm using synaser to do this, pdu and plain text to use some kinds of modems, I need test more by the moment. Any opinions?, or suggestions?. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paulo242 · 2010-10-28 00:01 Hi. An ideia could be create a simple program that reads from a database table and tries to send emails. After email is being sent, flag the record to discart it. Generate logs of each operation. Use cron on linux or schedules tasks on windows to execute it. Works that way for me. Hope it helps. []
