Just started with Lazarus / FPC and want to rewrite an old app of
mine. My platform of choice is Mac OS X; but unfortunatly need it to
run on XP, Windows 7 and of course Linux. I am trying to decide on a
suitable database product. I don't mind a runtime module; but prefer
that db not be standalone service. Used to use BTrieve 5 / 6 but that
only runs on DOS. Data will never be more than about 2,000 records.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Use SQLite. The database file is crossplatform so you can interchange
it easily.
