Microsoft Access alternative written in Lazarus/FPC lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2010-01-19 20:22 1. How to implement dynamical creation of forms and reports? 2. An embedded database engine that can easily link external data sources (Access has ODBC "linked" tables to various external data sources), so that heterogeneous queries can be performed? 3. Any existing visual query builder component for Lazarus? If not, tips how to make it? 4. Scripting language (like VBA in Access)? Pascal script? 5. Anybody interested? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2010-01-19 20:35 I'm interested. I'm definitely interested.  I'm not sure how much work needs to be devoted to item #4 -- Access VBA is so close to standalone VB6 that it's very easy to switch from one to the other.  Some enhancements/additions to Lazarus/FPC that are specifically aimed at using & manipulating the available data tables, queries & reports should to the job. If you're looking for assistance in developing such a project, I don't think I can be much help on the coding side of things.  Testing/debugging/documentation is another situation entirely; I'd be happy to contribute in those areas.
