cannot install DBFLaz lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- de_valentin · 2007-12-06 18:33 Hi I guess I'm a noob, and I need help. I'm trying to install a package on Gutsy. I have 0.92 working but I need the DBFLaz package. When I tell it to install after pointing it out, I get this message: QuoteThe package "dbflaz 0.1.1" was marked for installation. Currently lazarus only supports static linked packages. The real installation needs rebuilding and restarting of lazarus. Do you want to rebuild Lazarus now? yes or no no just sends you back and yes gives the next message: Quote Unable to run the tool "Compile IDE (without linking)": read access denied for "/usr/lib/fpc/s.0.4/units/i386-linux/rtl/Package.fpc" cancel or abort can anyone tell me how to fix this? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OnixJr · 2007-12-06 20:47 the current user don't have read access... (did you install lazarus as root?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- de_valentin · 2007-12-06 20:56 I installed it through Applications > add/remove Does that mean I didn't install as root? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- de_valentin · 2007-12-07 23:00 bump ---------------------------------------------------------------------- de_valentin · 2007-12-08 12:47 Please help at this moment I can't go any further. Just tell me where to look or what to google for? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WibblyTim · 2007-12-09 09:03 Open a terminal, then type, sudo startlazarus Enter your root password at the prompt. Then install the DBFlaz package. It should then install properly. Exit from Lazarus. Close the terminal. Start Lazarus as normal. The package should be available for use. Good Luck. Tim. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- de_valentin · 2007-12-10 08:29 I've tried that, but it didn't work either. exactly the same errors.
