DISQLite lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2007-08-09 16:42 Has anybody tried porting DISQLite3 (http://www.yunqa.de/delphi/sqlite3/) from Delphi to Lazarus? It would be great if someone succeeds... Thanks, Zlatko ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2007-08-09 16:53 In what way is this different different from using the SQLite3Dataset from FPC? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2007-08-10 08:13 Hi, Vincent. It is completely embedded in Delphi, no external sqlite3.dll needed. It is said to be 50% faster than SQLite... It could be the best solution for embedded database for Lazarus, if possible to port, I suppose. The only database written in Pascal? Regards, Zlatko ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2007-08-10 08:31 Embedded and implented in pascal like tdbf. With this difference, that tdbf doesn't suport sql. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2007-08-10 10:16 Right. And SQL is important. Maybe you could try convert DISQLite to Lazarus? I tried to convert delphi package to Lazarus package, but compiler says some units are missing, even the main one (DISQLite3API.pas). I don't have previous experience in Delphi, so it' exceeds my knowledge to hack around with it. Someone more versed could try? Regards, Zlatko ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LuizAmérico · 2007-08-12 00:20 DISqlite is not written purely in pascal. It statically links to sqlite instead of dinamically. There are advantages and disavantages of such approch: Advantages:   faster function calls   ability to use/link only a subset of the library Disavantages:   Upgrade of library is harder Also keep in mind that DISqlite is not open source. The package miss the DISqlite3Api source (comes only with the compiled units)
