Postgre won't connect

PQconnect1 won't connect to my database in localhost. Ther error is:
Database does not exist. I used PGadmin to create thiis database and
it connects wiithout a problem. My guess is that I don't have
something registered in Postgre. Can anone help?

Check db name's characters case. If your db has been named GameInfo,
you can't connect using "gameinfo", for ex.

Out of desperation I tried a hack. I copied libpq.so.4.1 to libpq.so
and the PGConnect1 now connects to my databases locally and on the
server. The transaction also works. But the SQLquery1 won't open a
table on either. There is no error message but nothing is displayed in
a grid. Is that because of my hack or am I missing something else? I
have read all that I could find regarding database components
including:http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Adventures_of_a_Newbie
but that didn't help either.

Any help will be appreciated,
