example of blob to store files

Hi
can anyone point me in the direction of an example of how to use the
SQLdb package to read and write blobs out of a database. I am using
firebird and lazarus 0.9.12 and I cannot seem to find any examples.
Any help would be great

Hi,

a few month ago I tried to use a memo blob field in my app. But there
was an incorrect handling in TBufDataSet (or something). So I decide
to use a large VARCHAR-field to store my data.
I don't know if the error is repaired now.

I used the blob field with this code:

Query.FieldByName('blobfield').Value := Memo.Lines.Text; //set
Memo.Lines.Text := Query.FieldByName('blobfield').Value; //read out

      Thanks for the info. I will do some experimenting with it. I am
trying to store different types of files from jpeg to word documents.

I wonder how easily add any files into dBase datbases:

Code: [Select]uses jpeg;

 ...

 image := TJPEGImage.Create;


 To record images on Database:


 TADOQuery.Append;
 TBlobField(TADOQuery.FieldByName(image')).Assign(i mage);
 TADOQuery.Post;
I found some Delphi code,but can't get it to work with TDbf
components.
