How to disassemble a certain procedure or function ? lazarus / 12-Debugger ---------------------------------------------------------------------- misu · 2013-11-16 08:23 hi i'd like to know how to do so .  also methods inside classes too thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-11-16 13:28 You can 1) set a breakpoint, and when your app reaches it, you can look at the assembler 2) If you break in a method called from the desired function, right click the callstack. Each frame has a "view in assembler" 3) If you know the address, enter the address ------------- But if you just want to see what assembler is generated by fpc, and do not need to debug it, then just compile with -al  (specify in "Project Options" > Other > Custom). Then fpc generates *.s files with the asm in it (search in the lib folder) See: http://www.freepascal.org/docs- html/user/usersu15.html#x38-450005.1.4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- misu · 2013-11-16 14:28 thank you Martin , thats what i want. i've noticed that "next line" or "next instruction" is not as fast as delphi , i know lazarus uses external debuger (gdb) but if you try debuging with codeblocks for example you will find that its faster a litle bit than lazarus . thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-11-16 14:34 There is a trick: - Scroll the are of interest into view, maybe resize th ewindow - Disable (power button) the assembler window), then next instruction will be fast. - When you reach the end of the current view, then you need to enable once and scroll, to get a new disassemble.  Disable again ------ Otherwise, you can also do the next step, before the disassembler finishes.
