mouse info for comments lazarus / 12-Debugger ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruptor · 2013-02-17 11:24 When the mouse cursor is over comments it gives the information box so if it is code in the comments it tries to define it. I would have thought comments would be totally ignored. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- theo · 2013-02-17 14:23 Yes, it is true. If you think this is a problem, you can write a bug report: http://bugs.freepascal.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-02-17 15:47 afaik this is fully intended. It is not uncommon that some comments are commented code, or that they contain the name of a variable, if they explain that variable. The IDE can not know, if any part of a comment is descriptive text, or if it is something that can be evaluated. Yes, it could react to the error, but that would be flawed too. It may be code (*e.g. variable name), but from a unit that  has no debug info. Then an error would happen, and is useful to be displayed. --- The only thing that *currently* does not show is {$ifdef not_defined_value}...{$endif}. This is due to missing implementation. It is planned to make that working too . ----- That said, you may make a feature request ta make this configurable. You already can switch of the hint completely (for all source). And you already can configure to get the codetool hint only, but not the debug hint.
