Lazarus 1 RC1 unable to debug. lazarus / 12-Debugger ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bloodbat · 2012-08-15 20:29 Hello, I downloaded the RC for Lazarus 1.0 and now I am unable to debug my program, I have created several build modes for the project and when I set it to debug and try to run it, I get a gdb error: 0xc000007b (the same I get if I run gdb without a program); I used to be able to debug it with prior versions (still am, at least under OS X, I'm not using RC 1 there). It is the Windows 64 bit version; I tried disabling my antivirus' shields, since reading this forum yielded it has problems with some AV software (I'm using free Avast), didn't change the result one bit. Attached to this post is the lazarus log produced by running Lazarus with Code: [Select]--debug-log=somefile.txt --debug-enable=DBG_CMD_ECH O,DBG_STATE,DBG_DATA_MONITORS,DBGMI_QUEUE_DEBUG,DBGMI_TYPE_INFO,DBG_WA RNINGS,DBGMI_STRUCT_PARSEIf I'm missing something to help you help me, please let me know so I can produce it. Thanks in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-08-15 21:52 Seems your gdb does not even start. It could be a missing Library. What files do you have in /mingw/bin/ ? It should be gdb.exe and libiconv-2.dll only. In case the files are broken in your download. You can (web-browser) download them here: http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/lazarus/binaries/x86_64-win64/gdb/bin Using SVN, you can get the previously shipped gdb from  there too. While the problem lasts, an alternative gdb can be found here http://www.drangon.org/mingw/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bloodbat · 2012-08-16 01:40 The files: gdb.exe libexpat-1.dll libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll libiconv-2.dll libintl-8.dll Where did those other files come from (I used the official installers)? :S I do have Lazarus 32 bit installed also...could that be a problem? (I do compile for both 32 and 64 bit targets) Edit: using the one from the svn.freepascal.org link fixed the problem , thanks a lot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2012-08-16 02:03 The other files come with the 32 bit version. Including a 32 bit gdb.exe See here for the 32 bit gdb binaries: http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/lazarus/binaries/i386-win32/gdb/bin/ So yes that may be the problem. Currently both 64 and 32 bit Lazarus) install GDB in the same directory. This will be changed in future, but not for 1.0 You need each gdb, including the libraries that it requires, in a separate folder. I advice to install the 2 Lazarus in to different folders (not just gdb, but all of Lazarus) Please read here (there are several post I made to that thread), about having 2 installs: http://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,17704.msg98321.htm l#msg98321 The alternative is to build an fpc cross compiler, and have only one Lazarus install. But that isn't yet available out of the box....
