Phil. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaazen · 2011-10-31 11:15 The same place. Maybe your linux version of Lazarus is older than the Windows one. (I use trunk.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilCUk · 2011-10-31 11:41 Ok im using : Lazarus Version   0.9.30.1,    Date 2011-10-21,   SVN Rev:33003 Should it be there? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2011-10-31 12:23 Quote from: PhilCUk on October 31, 2011, 12:41:36 pmOk im using : Lazarus Version   0.9.30.1,    Date 2011-10-21,   SVN Rev:33003 Should it be there? No, it wont be there. The threads  window was added after 0.9.30.  0.9.30.1 is a fixes branch. It does not have any of the features added after 0.9.30. See http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_0.9.30_fixes_branch for list of fixes. You need 0.9.31 for that. A list of features added in 0.9.31 so far: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_0.99.0_release_notes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilCUk · 2011-10-31 12:38 Ok thanks alot I thought as much. Now I should really update the version I have.. and it took me soo long to get it (FPC) working for ARM too! The Laz install I have still doesnt even compile GUI apps... just says cant find interfaces unit ect. I was trying to avoid starting again, I think I may have to with the ide and try and keep the FPC sperate and working. Is it worth waiting for version 1.0? I take it that the 9.31 will eventually become 1.0. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2011-10-31 12:42 You do not need to change your FPC install Simply download the 0.9.31 sources into a new directory. (or do an SVN checkout). Make sure you have write permission, best use a directory below your users home. Copy your current Lazarus exe into that directory. Create a new directory to hold the configuration for your new Lazarus (so your old install will keep working). You do not need to copy the old config. In fact you better do not copy it. You can copy selected files like editoroptions.xml Start the copied Lazarus with --primary-config-path=new_conf_dir You will have to keep using this, so create a startup script. Go to options, and configure the pathes (lazarus path, to your new download. FPC to your existing fpc. Add packages (for 3rd party packages, create copies in new directories) recompile. done .... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2011-10-31 12:58 Quote from: PhilCUk on October 31, 2011, 01:38:18 pmstill doesnt even compile GUI apps... just says cant find interfaces unit ect. You may have: - a wrong path in your config. - an old project that for some reason does not use the Package(s) LCL/LCLBase Or since you did work on your fpc install: the units are compiled with an old/different version of FPC (even if the same version, just a diff revision, makes all ppu unusable) Either recompile the IDE with all packages, or open the packages in question and recompile them. Ensure you have write permissions. Otherwise ppu will be in you user directory (.lazarus) 0.9.31 IIRC has improved on dealing with those things. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilCUk · 2011-10-31 13:28 Thanks alot Martin thats really helpful. Iv checked out the 0.9.31 and built it.  It now compiles GUIs and my project to ARM and i386. I thought it was going to take me all day but luckily with your help its not taken too long at all. It does moan that the Compiler'user/bin/fpc' does not support arm- linux, but if I just Ok the error it seems to work and the ARM output ELF is correct for EABI5. thanks again, I hope you guys get to version 1.0 soon!
