Is it posible to use ddd with lazarus? lazarus / 12-Debugger ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpalx · 2011-06-09 16:24 in Linux, Is it posible to use ddd with lazarus? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2011-06-09 17:11 DDD is just a front-end, assuming you mean DDD using gdb as the actual debugger, then yes, that should (or could) work. BUT: some features may not work. FPC can write stabs (-g) or dwarf info (-gw). GDB can read both. GDB has troubles with some values, as they can either not be correctly represented in stabs/dwarf, or gdb has an incomplete implementation (and/or for either of the 2 first two reasons, fpc may write "workaround" debug info) Lazarus uses GDB, but Lazarus does correct some of the issues (not all) Examples (depend on gdb version / stabs or dwarf used... / fpc version used) sorry I haven't got an exact list: - Sometimes it is necessary to explicitly dereference a symbol "foo^", where this should not be needed in pascal. ((dyn-)array, objects, var param) - Sometimes a symbol must be typecasted to it's own type TFoo(AFoo)  (var-param) - Variant values need special processing - In nested procedures, variables visible to pascal from the outer procedure, require explicit stack-frame selection (and you need to pick the correct frame) ... Otherwise, I have no idea if DDD special features work. e.g I do not know if DDD can recognize pascal arrays, and display them as table/graph
