Can someone explain why if I put a breackpoint this is ignored? How
can I debug without properly?

Select Environment -> Options -> Debugger.
It should be GDB.

Have you built your project with debug info? It should be compiled
with -g, all of it

Try making sure that's enabled and rebuild it all again(If the LCL or
RTL isn't compiled with -g, you won't be able to debug it, but I think
it is by default?)
