How to debug fcl from within Lazarus lazarus / 12-Debugger ---------------------------------------------------------------------- merlin352 · 2009-10-28 10:06 Hello I come again up with this topic because there is no real solution to find. Neither in this forum nor on the web. My Problem: I want to debug the db-unit from the fcl. I have created debug versions for fcl-db with the following procedure : cd \pp\packages\fcl-db make clean make debug CREATESMART=1 SMARTLINK=1 make install after this the newly created *.o and *.ppu are under \pp\units\i386-win32\fcl-db They are bigger than the ones created without debug-information. Then I recompile my project under Lazarus. I can debug my project,  but there is no debug-information for p.ex. db.pas. Breakpoints are grayed out as invalid. I cannot step into the code. Has anyone more information on this topic. thx ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2009-10-28 10:25 Are the newly compiled units used in your program and not the old (without debuginfo) units from your regular installation? (try for example renaming db.ppu to db.ppu.gone and see if your program still compiles). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- merlin352 · 2009-10-28 10:31 There is only 1 copy of db.ppu on my computer. The compiler does no longer find db.ppu when I rename it and stops with an error. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- merlin352 · 2009-10-28 12:54 Ok, I found the solution. One thing is that I use DWARF-debug information to have limited access to properties So the solution is cd \pp\packages\fcl-db make clean make debug OPT=-gw  make install With the 3. line DWARF-info is generated. Smartlinking does not work with DWARF, so the options are useless. Greetings
