Update Lazarus on Ubuntu

I currently use IDE version 1.8.2 of Lazarus and need 2.0.8.
my question is if i need to uninstall the current one or if i can only
update and how to do it.

Ubuntu: 18.04.5 LTS

It's best if you uninstall the old Lazarus, and with so old a version
also FPC and FPC source, before reinstalling.

Your old settings and personalizations will be kept and, if needed,
updated on the first run of the new version.

One problem you might find happens if you installed any extra
packages; in that case you'll have an old, home-local copy of the re-
compiled Lazarus 1,8 which you might want to delete inside ~/.lazarus/
