Ubuntu 16.04 - success! lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oldfart · 2017-03-27 21:15 For those having problems (Like I did!) installing Lazarus in Ubuntu 16.04 Code: [Select]http://installion.co.uk/ubuntu/xenial/universe/l/lazarus /install/index.html I then had a problem with a libmysqlclient error so, installed this one Code: [Select]http://launchpadlibrarian.net/212189159/libmysqlclient18 _5.6.25-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb which I found on https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/libmysqlclient18/5.6.25- 0ubuntu1 was having loads of problems, so fresh install of ubuntu, then did all above - works perfectly. On the way, I made snapshots of my Ubuntu install using Code: [Select]http://tipsonubuntu.com/2016/07/30/create-system- restore-points-ubuntu-16-04/HTH ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Graeme · 2017-03-28 08:46 Quote from: oldfart on March 27, 2017, 11:15:26 pmOn the way, I made snapshots of my Ubuntu install using Code: [Select]http://tipsonubuntu.com/2016/07/30/create-system- restore-points-ubuntu-16-04/To extend on this. I'm a FreeBSD user, but this should apply to Linux too. If you choose to use the ZFS file system instead, then you can use ZFS's built-in snapshot functionality to achieve the same feature. I highly recommend anybody running FreeBSD or Linux to switch to ZFS. It is an absolute brilliant file system, with impressive data protection and redundancies built-in, very easy to use, partitions rethought from the ground up (create and destroy partitions on the fly as needed), partitions with on-the-fly encryption or compression built-in etc. Also since the introduction of the OpenZFS Group (common development of ZFS features), ZFS now runs natively on Linux (no more terrible performance because it used to run via FUSE). http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19253-01/819-5461/gbcya/index.html https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/zfs-zfs.html
