"nohup startlazarus & exit" fails to launch Lazarus

OS: Debian Unstable

Lazarus: 1.6

BUT ...

1. if I use "setsid startlazarus" then everything works fine.
2. if I use "nohup startlazarus" and then close the terminal
everything works fine too.

I want to understand what the hell is going on, why I have this
strange bug.
