First run on Ubuntu - Lazarus locks up lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- russdirks · 2016-01-20 02:47 I have installed 1.6RC2 twice in the last few days, for various reasons, and both times, on the first run, a small window comes up with "Progress" in the title bar.  The window stays there forever.  I eventually have to kill the process.  After that Lazarus starts up ok.  Any ideas what that is all about? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DelphiFreak · 2016-01-20 03:58 I observed something similar. It looked like the application was stuck, but in fact it was whole mess of all the different windows on the screen and a message window was behind somewhere waiting for an user input. I also never understood the reason for having an entry for each window in the taskbar. ( yes I know there is an option : "Show  only one entry in the taskbar" but it's turned off by default) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- russdirks · 2016-01-20 04:27 DelphiFreak, The first time it happened, my experience was similar to yours ... a bunch of the regular IDE windows came up, with this small one as well.  I vaguely recall the window said something about "Indexing" something or rather.  There was no user input fields. The second time was a bit different ... only the small window came up.  No other IDE windows appeared.  After a few seconds the small window went dark, and when I tried to close it a standard OS message came up about the window being non-responsive.
