SOLVED : Which package do I have to install for x86_64-linux-as? lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vfclists · 2015-05-17 07:24 I was trying to cross compile Lazarus from 32 bit to 64 bit and it failed with a message about x86_64-linux-as not found. I think it is the assember for creatting 64 bit executables on 32 bit Linux. Which Ubuntu or Debian package do I need to installl? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2015-05-17 11:42 Quote from: vfclists on May 17, 2015, 09:24:25 amWhich Ubuntu or Debian package do I need to installl? None, neither Ubuntu nor Debian provides that package, you must compile from source. AFAIK multiarch/multilib packages on 64-bit can build 32-bit directly, but not the other way around. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vfclists · 2015-05-17 15:29 Quote from: Leledumbo on May 17, 2015, 01:42:44 pmQuote from: vfclists on May 17, 2015, 09:24:25 amWhich Ubuntu or Debian package do I need to installl? Does the script itself need x64_64-linux-as? Can't the 32 bit version target 64-bit code with the necessary options? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Cyrax · 2015-05-17 15:31 You need to rebuild gcc compiler with these configure flags : --enable-multilib --enable-targets=i686-pc-linux-gnu,x86_64-pc-linux- gnu ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vfclists · 2015-05-17 20:41 Quote from: vfclists on May 17, 2015, 09:24:25 amI was trying to cross compile Lazarus from 32 bit to 64 bit and it failed with a message about x86_64-linux-as not found. I think it is the assember for creatting 64 bit executables on 32 bit Linux. Which Ubuntu or Debian package do I need to installl? I found a solution which involves downloading a debian package - https://packages.debian.org/sid/i386/binutils-x86-64-linux- gnu/download after downloading from your preferred mirror do: Code: [Select]dpkg -i binutils-x86-64-linux-gnu_2.xx-x_i386.deb ln -s /usr/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-as /usr/bin/x86_64-linux-as change xx-x to suit your download. it is currently 2.25_5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Cyrax · 2015-05-18 18:26 Looks like you only need to recompile recent binutils with this config stanza : --enable-64-bit-bfd --enable-multilib --enable-targets=all After building new version of your binutils package, you have as (assembler) and ld (linker) which can build 64-bit executables. EDIT : Okay, you still need to rebuild gcc after binutils to get 64-bit libraries.
