Installing Lazarus

Please help! I am new to Lazarus. I can not get Lazarus to run under
Ubuntu 12.04
Can anyone help with an "installation-guide" ?

Thank You for Your answer.
I have installed Lazarus 0.9.30.20 from Software Center, and Free
Pascal 2.4.4
They should work together?

I have written a Lazarus program on another computer, but I can not
get it to run on this computer. Sorry I this is confusing....

Yes, they should work together but they are both obsolete (~ 2 years).

I recommend you to download Laz. 1.2.2 + FPC 2.6.4 *.deb package
(follow links on the left).
Try to install it from terminal and if it will not work, copy-paste
here the error output.

Hi Blaazen.

Now I have installed the programs as You recommended, but the problem
is still the same. The program that I wrote on my home-computer will
not run on my work-computer. When I try to compile the program nothing
happens.
I am quite new to Lazarus, so it is probably some stupid mistake I
make....

No error messages?

Are your home computer and work computer are both Ubuntu 12.04?  If
no, try to go to Project Options -> Config and Target and change
settings.

Hi Blaazen.

Problem solved! I am very embarrased. I tried to compile a wrong file.
Now everything is working, both at home, and at work.
I am unfamiliar with Lazarus, but hope to improve soon. Used to
program in Turbo Pascal (many years ago).
I use small home made programs in my company, and enjoy programming. I
think I use it as a kind of relaxation.
Do You know about a good book about Lazarus?
