fpc 2.6.4 for arm is missing? lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nomorelogic · 2014-04-24 08:13 hi all I can't found the 2.6.4 release of fpc for arm http://sourceforge.net/projects/freepascal/files/Linux/2.6.4/ it is coming or is not ready yet? thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2014-04-24 09:16 It was not built, I don't know why precisely, but probably because stock 2.6.x series don't support HF. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nomorelogic · 2014-04-24 09:44 Quote from: marcov on April 24, 2014, 11:16:20 amIt was not built, I don't know why precisely, but probably because stock 2.6.x series don't support HF. 2.6.2 was built http://sourceforge.net/projects/freepascal/files/Linux/2.6.2/ fpc 2.6.4 is the minimum release to compile fpc downloading the source code from subversion. is that correct? if so, I hope fpc arm release come soon ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2014-04-24 10:08 Quote from: nomorelogic on April 24, 2014, 11:44:00 amfpc 2.6.4 is the minimum release to compile fpc downloading the source code from subversion. is that correct? Formally yes, but in this special case, 2.6.2 seems to still work. But nobody says you need to compile it on ARM using the ARM compiler. Quoteif so, I hope fpc arm release come soon The main issue to watch out for is that there is not one universal "ARM" version, like there is an fairly universal "i386-linux" or "x86_64-linux" release for those targets. Also that 2.6.2 release might not be what you think it is (e.g. it doesn't run on raspberry pi with raspbian) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nomorelogic · 2014-04-24 17:17 Quote from: marcov on April 24, 2014, 12:08:02 pmFormally yes, but in this special case, 2.6.2 seems to still work. But nobody says you need to compile it on ARM using the ARM compiler. I'm working on a project and compiling on ARM I have a problem when I use the -fPIC parameter. I discovered that the bug has been fixed in the trunk version 2.7.1 ... http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=19729 then I decided to try to install the trunk on raspberry. To compile from source is the only way to have the trunk on arm, am I wrong? I am trying to install on a raspberry with a gentoo installed by hand. It would be really nice if I could compile that project with-fPIC on ARM. ll Let you know if I can ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FPK · 2014-04-27 18:20 ftp://ftp.freepascal.org/pub/fpc/dist/2.6.4/arm-linux/ contains an arm release (armel though). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nomorelogic · 2014-04-28 12:54 thank you FPK I also note that, recently, 2.6.4 has been posted on sourceforge too
