10 error msgs after install on linux mint 16 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert.Thompson · 2014-02-22 15:59 I get 10 error msgs after install on linux mint 16 - attached are the first 4. Does anyone know what I should do? Thanks, Rob. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2014-02-22 18:22 Quote from: Robert.Thompson on February 22, 2014, 04:59:54 pmI get 10 error msgs after install on linux mint 16 - attached are the first 4. Does anyone know what I should do? You screwed something with thr installation. Hard to say more without any details. Remove all existing FPC and Lazarus installations and try again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert.Thompson · 2014-02-22 18:29 I did that, 3 times already. I have gotten rid of 9 of the errors msgs by reinstalling with the Synaptic Package manger and selecting *all* (every last one!) listed packages for Free Pascal & Lazarus. The final error msg is attached. At least the default IDE program compiles successfully now. Any suggestions as to how to eliminate the final error would be appreciated. Rob. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2014-02-22 18:48 Well at first ensure that the paths in options are correct. Best done by starting Code: [Select]  lazarus --setup The settings are also in menu tools / options If setup shows no errors, then that is good. --- I have no idea why it does not find leakview for you. Which version of Lazarus is it? Anyway, you can always go and open the package, via the package menu. leakview is in the components folder. Then on the next start it should be fine. Normally it should be found though. There is a file leakview.lpl in packager/globallinks, and that points to the package. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hinst · 2014-02-22 19:14 Perhaps Linux Mint maintainers are to blame. They have thousands of various packages which they have to maintain & update & make them work on Linux Mint. So they have time for commonly used packages like Firefox, Chromium, gedit, kate, gtk, qt, apache and so on... But they could not care less for Lazarus. Not sure if Linux Mint have its own relatively independent repository or just use Ubuntu repository. Either way it's obvious why Lazarus package can be incompatible with LM. In case of Ubuntu repository... Well, it is for Ubuntu, but this is Mint, so even if it should work fine in theory, there are things which can go wrong. In case there is a separated repository for Mint, then Mint maintainers should have adapted Lazarus package for Mint, but perhaps they overlooked something ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert.Thompson · 2014-02-22 19:38 I don't seem to be able to open leakview, see attached. Their does no seem to be a leakview.lpk file - this what I require, right? If this is true, is there a way for me to create it? Thanks, Rob. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2014-02-22 20:13 I still do not know which version of Lazarus you use. The first 2 are expected. Only "Open Package File (lpk)" lets you browse. The file exists, but I tested the installer on windows. On Linux, I use SVN, and there it also exists. I have no idea, how it can be missing for you. Maybe Hinst is right, and it is an issue with Synaptic Package mgr. Try to use one of the installers provided on our sourceforge page. --- You can uninstall the package, if you don't need it. Though it is useful, if you want to use heaptrc to find mem leaks. http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/leakview ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert.Thompson · 2014-02-22 20:18 I'm sorry, I forgot to attach this image to my previous post. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2014-02-22 21:18 leakview has been in lazarus since way before that. So probably an issue with the particular installer. You can try to get the file here : http://svn.freepascal.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/tags/lazarus_1_0_10/compo nents/leakview/?root=lazarus&pathrev=43378 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert.Thompson · 2014-02-22 21:49 Thanks Martin! I copied the most recent version to the Leakview folder. Lazarus opened without the error msg. I would not know if this actually fixes the problem but it does satisfy the Lazarus IDE. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- engkin · 2014-02-22 22:28 Similar problem with leakview on Lubuntu 13.10 when Lazarus was installed using apt-get. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- snorkel · 2014-02-26 16:23 I have it running on linux mint 16 KDE, here is what I did. Install the debs from the lazarus downloads for the version you need. Then after installing mark the FPC debs to not update in the package manager, you have to right click on them.   If you don't do that when you update your system it will try to install the ubuntu versions of FPC and you don't want that.  It happened to me and nothing worked with the ubuntu versions of FPC. After you install the Lazarus .deb it will install all the deps except for the qt4pas if you want to build the IDE as QT, which I did in my case because with GTK none of the menu icons work in KDE. You can then also download the trunk version and build that with no issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2014-02-26 19:11 I use FPC 2.6.2 from Mint Linux repository and it works ok. Mint 14, 15 and 16 have it. I get Lazarus usually directly from SVN server. I don't know what is causing your problems. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Rails · 2014-02-27 00:16 Quote from: snorkel on February 26, 2014, 05:23:30 pmI have it running on linux mint 16 KDE, here is what I did. It is easiest to do with a graphical package manager. Synaptic, as one one example, has a simple "Lock Version"  selection available in the Package pull down menu. That takes care of it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- psiplace · 2014-06-09 21:36 just happened to me, mint 17, i think the packages are in a place not know to the skd, anyway installed from debs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rasberryrabbit · 2014-06-18 11:16 I use fpc trunk by fpcup. It works fine. if you use 64bit mint 17, you need run once below script and also install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev. And mingw and subversion also installed. Code: [Select]#!/bin/bash # ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 /usr/lib/libX11.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgdk-pixbuf-2.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpango-1.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libpango-1.0.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcairo.so.2 /usr/lib/libcairo.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libatk-1.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libatk-1.0.so ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so ln -s /usr/bin/amd64-mingw32msvc-windres /usr/bin/windres echo ‘you must install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev’ if you use 32bit, ' /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' folder and '/usr/bin/amd64-mingw32msvc-windres'  to somthing.
