[SOLVED] 64 bits DEB packages for Intel? lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Henppy · 2013-12-30 02:40 Ok, hello people. Having another question... I decided to compile my app on a 64 bit Linux. I went with Mint because that's what I was using in 32 bits. So I went to the download section at the Lazarus site to download the 1.0.14 version (newest version on Mint repositories is 1.0.10 I believe) and I see the 64 bits versions have "amd64" in their name. Would that work on an Intel (virtual) PC? I'm a newbie in Linux so I don't want to try to install something and break the system. BTW, I also tried to install the i386 DEBs just to see what happened, but I got some errors I didn't try to solve because I wanted to check this other possibility first. But, would a 32 bits FPC generate 64 bits apps? Thanks all for answering my annoying questions! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2013-12-30 03:20 QuoteWould that work on an Intel (virtual) PC?Yes, x86_64 target that FPC supports is amd64. It's different from ia64. QuoteBut, would a 32 bits FPC generate 64 bits apps?Yes, but you'll need to build the cross compiler first. Should be easy on linux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Henppy · 2014-01-01 00:12 Thanks Leledumbo. Installed the amd64 packages and they worked flawlessly.
