fpcres not found??

Ok I have managed after 2 days of installations to have a working
opensuse12 on a vm fpc 2.6.2 and lazarus 1.0.6(GTK) build and I can
work with for now. I tried to build lazarus for qt and after a few
very disterbing  corrections I had to make in some 3rd party packages
to make them work for QT I have stumbled  across this error message

.../lazarus/ide/lazarus.pp(133,1) Error: Can't call the resource
compiler "/usr/bin/fpcres", switching to external mode

which I do not know how to handle. Any adviec welcomed.

It should be in the same directory as other fpc binaries (fpc,
fpcmkcfg, delp, etc.) except the actual compiler (ppcXXX). Otherwise,
the installation package may miss it.

oh sorry, didn't type all the details. yes fpc fpcmake and fpcres are
located in the /usr/bin folder and the user I'm working with can
invoke them from a console from any directory correctly at least I see
the help text printed on the console. Something else is going on which
I can't put my finger on.
