Lazarus and Debian Squeeze. lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrdebug · 2011-10-03 08:22 Today I have tried to install the new Lazarus release on Debian Squeeze (offuicial stable Debian release) but I obtain this error: " lazarus-ide-0.9.30.2 dipende da libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 (>= 2.22.0), ma:   Il pacchetto libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 non è installato. ". Is Debian no more supported from Lazarus? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fabienwang · 2011-10-03 10:07 It is supported. Try first: Code: [Select]apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrdebug · 2011-10-03 12:38 There isn't this package in Debian Squeeze. See the log: root@debian:~/d/lazarus# apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 Lettura elenco dei pacchetti... I think libgdk-pixbuf is in libgtk libglib2.0-0 libgtk2.0-0 libc6 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrdebug · 2011-10-03 14:05 All already installed. The old version of lazarus works fine on Debian Squeeze. The last version from cvs that I have installed correctly is 0.9.31.20110524. I think that Lazarus wants libraries too new for run. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2011-10-03 14:55 If I look at http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=default§ion=a ll&arch=any&searchon=names&keywords=libgdk-pixbuf then I see that wheezy and sid have such a library. Lenny has libgdk- pixbuf2. I don't know what happened in squeeze, maybe it was part of libgtk. The packages were built on sid. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fabienwang · 2011-10-03 15:17 Quote from: Vincent Snijders on October 03, 2011, 04:55:44 pmIf I look at http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=default§ion=all&arch=an y&searchon=names&keywords=libgdk-pixbuf then I see that wheezy and sid have such a library. It's weird the lib is still on Testing and Unstable (sid). @mrdebug, i would give a try to:  http://packages.debian.org/sid/libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 the download links are down to the page (extract the archive as root in / it should work, but it's not the cleanest method ^-^ ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrdebug · 2011-10-04 08:26 Now I see that lazarus wants other libraries too much updated. Is impossible to install on Debian Squeeze. It 'a shame that Lazarus can't be installed on the actual Debian stable version. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2011-10-04 08:36 If you want to use an older Debian version (which may still be the actual, because of the slow release cycle of Debian), I think it is acceptable to use an older version of Lazarus too. If you don't want that, you may have to build the debs for your distro yourself, by installing the fpc debs and the lazarus source and running make deb in the Lazarus source directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrdebug · 2011-10-04 10:24 I must use Lazarus on Squeeze because we have a lot of computers with Squeeze, Lenny and Etch with my program installed written with Lazarus. I had not thought to compile Lazarus from the sources. I did this without any errors. Apparently all works well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2011-10-05 07:53 Quote from: mrdebug on October 04, 2011, 12:24:54 pmI had not thought to compile Lazarus from the sources. I did this without any errors. Apparently all works well. Could you show how you did that? I tried it on an x86 squeeze, but ran into trouble: http://lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,14748.msg79176.html#msg7 9176 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrdebug · 2011-10-05 12:18 It's very easy. I have removed from my machine Lazarus and fpc. From a clean situation I have installed the fpc 2.4.4 from the Lazarus repository. Then I have downloaded the source of Lazarus. I have compiled it with "makde dep". During the installation I have obtained some dependencies errors. After the installation of the required packages, the compilation has run correctly. Now I work with the latest version of Lazarus on a Debian Squeeze machine. I have tried a compiled program with the latest version of Lazarus and I have tried it on Debian Lenny and Debian Etch without any problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fabienwang · 2011-10-05 15:26 Quote from: mrdebug on October 05, 2011, 02:18:57 pmI have compiled it with "makde dep". No way ! it's make deb But i'm glad to hear that. I was on Debian Squeeze, i tried the hard way, i broke my debian LOL (i'm now installing Arch). Thanks for your feedback mrdebug. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2011-10-05 17:06 Thanks mrdebug, I'll give it a try.
