[workaround found] Cannot find component units on Lazarus recompile lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TurboRascal · 2011-09-26 09:58 I got a strange error, I have an Ubuntu 10.04LTS Lucid x86_64 system, it originally comes with Lazarus 0.9.28 and I installed 0.9.30 from the Lazarus APT repository, and a fixes snapshot from downloaded debs. The problem is, when I try recompiling Lazarus, it works fine with default core packages, but when I install any of the additional packages from its list, the compiler complains about  not being able to find that package's unit. In environment options the Lazarus directory, fpc bin and source paths are correct, I've also installed Lazarus and FPC sources (I installed everything actually). I've tried upgrading, downgrading, reinstalling and purging, but to no avail. I did all as root and deleted .lazarus dir in the root's home. When this problem happened, for some time I  lost the list of available additional packages, but it returned after some reinstall, purge or upgrade, however it won't compile when I select one of those. So far, deleting stuff and purging packages didn't help. Where else could it be something I need to delete for this to work properly again? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TurboRascal · 2011-09-27 00:25 After more fiddling with installing and reinstalling of all three available versions, the configuration problems remained, and I also got some dependency issues. So, I gave up any hope to use Lazarus installed by the package manager and I uninstalled and purged it completely. I decided to simply use the source zip and build it manually from scratch, which I did and it works fine, which is no wonder because Lazarus is actually quite self-sufficient, everything it needs is in its subdir tree. So I let it "make install" to /usr/local/shared and use it that way. Also this way I got no more significant problem and I manage to configure everything properly. The only thing I let APT install is the newer FPC whose install works perfectly from the tarbal of debs offered on the lazarus, and which would be more tedious to build and install manually.
