Error while building Lazarus IDE in Ubuntu 64 bit OS lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- newman · 2011-08-09 15:26 Hi, I downloaded both fpc and lazarus tar files for the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 10.04 from this site. I untarred both files and used dpkg -i * for fpc and lazarus files, this installed lazarus succesfully. I am able to compile and build projects. I added some package files (.lpk) and tried to build Lazarus IDE, but I get this error. Quote/usr/lib/lazarus/0.9.30/ide/lazarus.pp(130,1) Error: Can't create object file: ../units/x86_64-linux/lazarus.o /usr/lib/lazarus/0.9.30/ide/lazarus.pp(130,1) Fatal: Can't create object ../units/x86_64-linux/lazarus.o Please help me in solving this problem. Note: The .lpk file compiles without errors, and the same error occurs when another .lpk file is used. ------- Is it possible to install lazarus onto myh 64 bit OS, using the method given in the link http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_release_version_for_Ubuntu I find that this method fails. Please also mention how I can purge my computer of all 0.9.30 files, so that I can make a clean install. thanks nm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dick, from the internet · 2011-08-09 16:21 Try changing folder permissons: sudo chmod 777 -R /usr/lib/lazarus   geno. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- newman · 2011-08-10 04:51 I solved this..., the solution was given in another thread in this forum...http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,13419.0.html It seems 0.9.30 must started as root before compilation of the ide. thanks for the tip anyway nm
