gtk+ and gdk-pixbuf Missing ... lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- diogenes · 2010-10-26 23:20 I recently upgraded from openSUSE 11.2 to 11.3, and from that time on, Lazarus 0.9.28 wouldn't work properly anymore. It reported a access violation any time i start my project via F9, and did the same when opening the project settings dialog. After cleaning up, the packets mentioned in the topic were missing, and no I can't even install Lazarus, because it misses precisesly these packets. I need a helping hand, because I want to run my software on SUSE as well as on WinXP. (There, I got no problems.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mirce.vladimirov · 2010-10-27 04:44 Then try to Install these packages. I gues you have those on the instalation CD, or at the SuSE ftp server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ivan17 · 2010-10-27 04:56 remove lazarus without checking dependencies: rpm --erase --nodeps lazarus-0.9.28.2 also fpc and fpc-src;  then install the three rpms (fpc-src, fpc, lazarus) you will then be told what to add (gtk devel packages) if you can't reinstall, tell us th output of the rpm --install --test yourdownloaddir/lazarus-0.9.28.2-0.i586.rpm command ---------------------------------------------------------------------- diogenes · 2010-10-27 14:38 mirce.vladimirov: I already tried that. That's what I mean with "missing". ivan17: error: Failed dependencies:         gdk-pixbuf is needed by lazarus-0.9.28.2-0.i586         gtk+ is needed by lazarus-0.9.28.2-0.i586 in short, nothing I wouldn't have expected ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2010-10-27 14:57 Quote from: diogenes on October 27, 2010, 04:38:50 pmerror: Failed dependencies:         gdk-pixbuf is needed by lazarus-0.9.28.2-0.i586         gtk+ is needed by lazarus-0.9.28.2-0.i586 in short, nothing I wouldn't have expected Install gtk2-devel. IIRC it pulls other dependencies with it. ...although I have a better idea yet. Install FPC 2.4.0 from "Education" build service repository (select from community repo- list). Make sure you have "make" and SubVersion installed, too, then get Lazarus trunk using SVN and build it. It is a huge improvement over -0.9.28.2. Note: the repo also has Qt4Pas which is needed for LCL QT bindings. Recommended. $ svn co http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/lazarus/trunk lazarus $ cd lazarus $ make all $ ./lazarus & ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bart · 2010-10-28 12:32 Take a look at this thread: http://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,1979.0.html Gtk+ on Suse has/had another name. In the thread you can see how I solved it. B.t.w. You still need the devel packages if you build Lazarus from source AFAIK. Although it (0.9.29 from svn) is the "unstable branch", I prefer it over the stable releases. Bart ---------------------------------------------------------------------- diogenes · 2010-11-02 16:38 I solved the problem differently by switching to kubuntu 10.10. Now I have network problems, but Lazarus seems to run smoothly ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ivan17 · 2010-11-04 04:59 i don't want to start a distribution argument here but you replaced a large house with a small wooden shack just so you wouldn't have to fix the stairs....
