panle not responding when lazarus opened

Hi,there!
    My system is ubuntu 9.10 lazarus 0.9.28.2-0 beta! Everything is ok
when i didn't open lazarus.
Once i open lazarus, the gnome-panel just not responding and the cpu
went very high. Then i want to open the terminal to kill the process
of gnome-panel, it won't work! So what can i do now?
