Lazarus Problem with FPC and Ubuntu 10.04 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yougm · 2010-05-03 14:46 Hi, I am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a laptop with some Qt items installed. I am a Linux newbie so I don't know a lot about it, however I have experience with Delphi on windows and Lazarus looks like a good alternative. I have downloaded the main FPC binary s, source, compiler and units etc. from the Ubuntu software manager. I then installed Lazarus and received an error (You can see it in the attachment). Sorry if this is a stupid problem... Thanks Yougm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alejol0 · 2010-05-03 15:29 Hi. I am a newbie too and this kind of "stupid" problems have consumed much of my time. I hope some day the Lazarus team make a simple installer for Lazarus in Linux, with all the stuff included and no dependencies at all, exactly like the Lazarus Windows installer. It seems to me that the paths for source files is not correctly setting in your Environment options. Maybe you can go to the Lazarus menu, Environment / Options / IDE options, and set FPC source and other directories. In my system, I have this: Lazarus directory: /usr/lib/lazarus/0.9.29/ Compiler path: /usr/local/lib/fpc/2.4.0/ppc386 FPC source directory: /usr/share/fpc-2.4.0/ Debugger : GNU debugger (gdb) : /usr/bin/gdb (Sorry, my system is in Spanish, and some items can have different names in English environments, I have guessed ). Hope this helps you, but I am not sure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yougm · 2010-05-03 16:13 Thanks alejol0, I agree with you. That is the only thing that stops me changing my main pc from windows to ubuntu, the lack of gui installers. I have checked my paths Lazarus Directory:  /usr/lib/lazarus/0.9.28.2/ Compiler Path: /usr/bin/fd2pascal FPC Source Dir: /usr/share/fpcsrc/$(FPCVER)/ So its nearly all the same except for the compiler Thanks From Yougm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2010-05-03 21:20 what is fd2pascal ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yougm · 2010-05-04 14:45 fd2pascal is an executable file in my bin directory, Lazarus chose that file as the compiler automaticly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2010-05-04 20:05 That might be an error, since it is not a compiler. choose ppc386 (or fpc) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marion · 2010-08-18 21:27 The easiest way to install Lazarus on Ubuntu is to copy add past this code into a terminal window. Code: [Select]sudo add-apt-repository ppa:user/ppa-name Then open Synaptic, his the refresh button. Then search for Lazarus, mark it for install, and click the Apply button. Just that simple.
