Ubuntu 9.1 Lazarus Always Loads Blank Project For Any .lpr File lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrmikehicks · 2010-03-27 18:53 This is almost enough to make me want to just delete lazarus and forget I ever heard of it. I am using ubuntu 9.1 on an AMD64 Compaq Presario SR1710NX (whole hard drive dedicated to linux) I have the out of the box 'system/Administration/Synaptic Package Manager/ version of Lazarus 9.26...  (not sure if they will ever update it again looks like not) IDE appears to work fine, I can create programs, run then in the IDE, etc, all works fine. Then I save the project in a new directory or even in the default directory (which for some reason is always the last place I saved a project) all appears to be fine. However, if I then leave lazarus and go to the file manager for that directory and dbl-click on the .lpr file, it pulls up lazarus with a blank form like I havent done a damn thing for the last 2 hours. This is really getting frustrating. I have tried several programs, and it is always the same, pulls up what looks like my project name with a clean slate, blank form, blank .pas file, etc. I am including a tar file of a simple hello world project. Anybody out there ever encountered this one yet???? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrmikehicks · 2010-03-27 19:22 May have solved the problem: After installing laz, I set file properties on all the laz files to 'open with' lazarus. This doesn't work. I went back and changed all the properties to open with gedit or nothing (except the .pas files)  Now after opening lazarus, I can open a .lpr file (with lazarus) and it will ask if I want to load the project and all is fine. If I try to 'open recent' I still get the bad behavior of blank form etc. I can work with this now, so will keep lazarus for another few days at least. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpalx · 2010-03-27 19:27 you should try to use lazarus 0.9.28 version ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrmikehicks · 2010-03-27 21:52 How do I get that version thru synaptics?? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpalx · 2010-03-27 23:10 download from http://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/  a deb version (i386 or amd64) depends on your architecture. the installation is just doble click ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Troodon · 2010-03-27 23:52 Have you checked how Lazarus is launched in Linux, the actual command line in the Ubuntu menu? It's : Code: [Select]startlazarus %f Try it that way in "Open with" (custom command). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zoran · 2010-03-28 07:45 Instead of using Synaptic in Ubuntu 9.10 do this: (Short version - get Lazarus). It works perfectly and it's very simple. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- newman · 2010-04-01 07:05 Yes the script file worked very well for my Ubuntu 9.10 installation. Its is better than getting from synaptic or directly from the site. thanks nm
