howto install lazarus on Moblin2 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mellumnav · 2010-01-24 22:52 having become a recent convert to linux through moblin  I expected to be able to get up and running with lazarus pretty quickly.... 5 days later I'm still scratching my head much to my embarrassment as I know my way around linux from way back. whats the easiest way to get lazarus up and running on moblin2, please help as its frustrating to have to track down rpms manually.  I just want something simple, not a list of commands which I'll probably get wrong.  maybe the first project I should write is a simple installer which finds and installs rpms needed to install lazarus. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Troodon · 2010-01-25 00:28 As Moblin is a platform for mobile devices one would expect to find limited hardware resources on such a machine (except, perhaps, the graphics chip). Therefore, installing Lazarus/FPC on Moblin may not be practical (just like installing Lazarus/FPC on Windows Mobile or iPhone OS). Developing software in Lazarus/FPC for Moblin might be possible though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ñuño_Martínez · 2010-01-25 14:16 I think it's no possible (or as Troodon said, it's impractical). The "correct" way to develop to a mobile platform is cross-compiling. That is develop in Linux, Windows or MacOS, then create the executable for the target platform, then test it in an emulator and finally (when it has no bugs) test it in a real device. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mellumnav · 2010-02-06 12:40 I actually want to *install* lazarus on my netbook running moblin as its the only linux I have. Theres no issue with limited resources processor graphics or sound as it runs pretty heavy weight apps anyway. I'm developing apps for myself so what does it matter about cross compiling etc etc.  I'm a seasoned Delphi developer and just want to dabble on linux, so should I be using Java instead of lazarus?
