How do I uninstall any trace of Lazarus and FP? lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotniet · 2009-10-08 12:56 Hi. How do I uninstall any trace of Lazarus and FP? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazaruX · 2009-10-08 13:32 I don't understand the reason to uninstall such great tools. However, it depends on the platform you are running on, on windows, uninstall the program using the uninst.exe file provided in the root of your Lazarus installation, then go to your user's folder (C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\) and remove the lazarus folder ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotniet · 2009-10-08 13:50 (We are in the Linux section here; right?) I need to uninstall it from Linux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazaruX · 2009-10-08 14:32 Ah, my apologize, I always select on the recent items the articles. Well, start uninstalling it from the package manager, if you installed Lazarus/FPC using rpm packages, then use the command: rpm -e Also after the removal, look into /home/username/.lazarus remove that folder I think that should be enough, I cannot tell you more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotniet · 2009-10-08 15:13 That's my problem. I have used the GUI to (Synaptic Ubuntu) uninstall all that stuff. But I have found the FPC folder (/lib/fpc - I think) with thousands of files in it. Now I cannot install the latest version of Lazarus without removing the old stuff. I want to make a fresh Lazarus install but I throws all kind of "dependencies" errors at me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazaruX · 2009-10-08 15:38 Tell me, are you using an RPM based distribution? If yes, try the following: download the RPM packages of FPC and Lazarus in a folder, for example: Code: [Select]/home/user/lazinstopen the terminal Code: [Select]cd /home/user/lazinstthen write: Code: [Select]rpm -Uvh fpc-2...........rpm(obviously not fpc-2...........rpm, but the filename) do the same for each file at the end do the lazarus file, remember to close synaptic before doing anything. This will check, if there is already an installed version of that file, if yes it will upgrade it, if no it will install it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2009-10-08 18:29 Quote from: dotniet on October 08, 2009, 05:13:20 pmThat's my problem. The problem you have may not so much be the remaining files, but the question which packages your package manager believes to be installed. AFAIK most package managers keep somewhere their own record of what you installed, and if that record is still there, then the package- manager sees no need to re-install those packages. If this is the case, I have no idea how to fix this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ñuño_Martínez · 2009-10-09 08:44 May be you have some "broken" packages. There are different ways to fix that. As you're using synaptic you may use the "Fix broken packages" from the "Edit" sub-menu (I'm using the Spanish version so the name of the option might be different). Also check the if you have obsolete and/or uninstalable packages; click the button below the "Section" one (bottom left of the main window). Then you can search for related packages using the search button; remember the "fpc" packages are the compiler ones. Also remember to use "Purge" or "Uninstall completely" instead of "Uninstall".
