EXE extension? lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2009-09-30 15:01 I use Linux Ubuntu 9.04 and the extension of programs it created with it had an EXE extension. How can I make it to have SH extensions? What am I doing wrong? Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ñuño_Martínez · 2009-09-30 15:50 .sh files are bash script executables, not binary executables. In other words, .sh files are to POSIX (such as GNU/Linux) the same as .bat are to DOS and .cmd are to Windows. You can't create .sh files compiling a program (actually you can but it isn't recommendable because any POSIX user/administrator expects that a .sh file is a script file not a binary file). On the other hand, POSIX operating systems executables do not need the ".exe" extension. Actually it's not recommendable (except for some purposes). If you need to name a binary executable with an extension the recommended one is ".bin" (from binary). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaazen · 2009-09-30 17:41 I use Kubuntu 9.04 and my executables have no extension at all by default. If it's ELF, then something is wrong. If MZ, hmm... are you running the native Lazarus for Linux or Lazarus for Windows via wine?
