Lazarus snapshot 0.9.29 can't be built with gtk1

Hi, maybe a true newbie question:
I recently downloaded a snapshot for Linux
lazarus-0.9.29.21647-20090911.i386.deb.tar. After installation it
started with GTK2 interface (great look!). But I wanted to compile my
app for GTK1 (for test purpose) and there was missing Interface. So I
tried to compile LCL for GTK1 and got always an error : make[2]:***
[../../units/i386-linux/gtk] Error 1. Maybe some source code for GTK1
is missing?

Works here with todays SVN checkout.

the path you have "../../units/i386-linux/gtk", that would be where
the ppu files are saved to. So it would be empty to start with, which
suggest this is not about missing files.

Does the path exist, does lazarus/fpc have permission to create it?
