Problem with GTK+ 2.x version of Lazarus lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gedumer · 2009-09-08 23:00 I built Lazarus with GTK+ 2.x and have had a couple of problems. 1. When I select text in the editor and click Edit... Copy... (or Ctrl+c) the Lazarus IDE closes. 2. Another issue is cosmetic. When I bring up the Compiler Options dialog and click the Code tab, spurious text overlays Level 0, 1, and 2 Optimizations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2009-09-08 23:45 Quote from: gedumer on September 09, 2009, 01:00:42 am1. When I select text in the editor and click Edit... Copy... (or Ctrl+c) the Lazarus IDE closes. Which version of Lazarus and FPC? (See help / about dialog) If it is an older Version, can you try a recent snapshot (0.9.27 or 0.9.29) ? If the latest 0.9.27 still has the issue: Can you compile lazarus with symbols ( -gl ) and then start it in a console (or in gdb) and get the backtrace when it crashes? Which Linux distribution do you use? which version? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gedumer · 2009-09-09 01:03 Ubuntu 9.04 Lazarus v0.9.26-4 FPC 2.2.2-8 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaazen · 2009-09-09 19:55 I cannot confirm your second cosmetic bug, in GTK 2 and Qt this dialog seems normally on my Kubuntu. Don't you have some special screen resolution or too big system font? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2009-09-09 20:08 I have an ubuntu installation too, the default font is size 12 or so... And yes it overlaps. Resize the dialog, and it will be fine. Not sure if it is already known as a bug.... About the copy to clipboard. that works fine here (however I have fpc and lazarus from SVN trunc).  May be an issue updating FPC. Next lazarus version (0.9.28) will require 2.2.4 anyway. Otherwise a stacktrace is the best hope of finding out anything. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gedumer · 2009-09-09 20:32 Here's the dialog. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul Ishenin · 2009-09-09 22:38 It depends on the dialog width. In 0.9.28 this dialog has constraints and I suppose this bug is not exists. Wait for 0.9.28 (or try lazarus from the trunk) since there are most of dialogs looks a bit better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2009-09-09 23:39 @Paul: I tried with trunc today. It still happens (since the default font size on ubunto was set to 12). And yes it was solvable by resizing the dialog. However I must note, my experience differs from the picture. For me, the boxes on the right half started at the middle of the group-box. In the picture, the group bax is very left centered. Not sure what may have triggered this... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gedumer · 2009-09-09 23:48 You're right... it is the dialog width that is causing the overlay issue. Hopefully the next version will resolve it. The other problem regarding Ctrl+c closing Lazarus IDE still persists. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chrnobel · 2009-09-10 09:17 The ctrl-c problem is specifically with the Lazarus version that is part of the 9.04 repository. The best is to install a newer version of Lazarus - my recommendation is to install FPC, FPCSRC, Lazarus in your home directory, and having the .fpc.cfg file here as well - and then remove all the stuff from /usr (or where ever it is that the .DEB package installs it - off topic: the .DEB packaging as such is smart when installing something system wide, but sometimes it is a pissing me off that one is not able to select the target).   This also has the advantage that you do not have any problems with when you recompile the IDE, and it is easier to upgrade from SVN. BUT: to make life easier, first install the version from the repository, despite the annoyances with the installation path, as you are sure that all dependencies also are installed. With regards to the cosmetic part, there is a problem with XCopyArea() under 9.04, I don't know whether it is an issue in this situation. /Christian ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gedumer · 2009-09-10 14:51 Thanks for the heads-up on 9.04. I'll definitely be upgrading Ubuntu when 9.10 is released next month so I'll wait to see if that solves it. If not, I'll follow your suggestion.
