PCLinuxOS lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- johnathan · 2009-02-21 19:56 Hi Background :  Not a programmer but have used Delphi since version 2 I have installed Lazarus from the PCLinuxOS repository and it loads with all the expected parts. Even with a simple program  it will not compile and gives the error /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lglib  Is anybody able to help or is it back to Delphi In hope John Thanks  to those who have replied. I have added some/all suggested devel from the repository. I too was surprised that they were not added automatically from synaptic. I can now build, compile and run my .pas files , and can run by double clicking on the cogwheel icon if Lazarus is open, but not otherwise. I still have a lot to learn but I will continue to try. Thanks again All seems to be working now, next I will try converting some of my Delphi progs john ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazaruX · 2009-02-22 09:34 You have to install some libgtk development tools, do not remember which, just install some and try. Also install the x devwelopment tools. And serash for something like libpuf (don't remember by hart). It's a bit tricky the first time, but once you have done it, you know how it works. I meant pixbuf (as suggested below) not libpuf, ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mica · 2009-02-22 10:10 you need glib-devel (and maybe the other -devel packages(X11,pixbuf,gdk...)) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wiz · 2009-02-22 11:58 If Lazarus is installed from the PCLinuxOS repository, why are these other libraries etc not listed as dependencies? The same thing happens when installing lazarus *.deb files. Just curious
