Compiling FPC on Kubuntu lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sandeep_c24 · 2009-02-18 09:47 How do I compile FPC on kubuntu? I have downloaded FPC using SVN. Sandeep ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Triple · 2009-02-18 19:20 This might help http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Installing_Lazarus#Installing_Free_ Pascal_under_Linux.2FBSD_manually Martin ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sandeep_c24 · 2009-02-18 21:39 What does $MAKE all OPT='-gl -O3p3'  PP=/path/to/startingcompiler-name-ppc386 mean? What is startingcompiler-name-ppc386 for Linux? Could anyone give an example of this? Sandeep ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2009-02-18 22:10 /usr/lib/fpc/2.2.2/ppc386 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sandeep_c24 · 2009-02-19 00:35 I have downloaded FPC source using SVN and I do not see ppc386 anywhere there. The folders structure of in trunk is Compiler/ ide/ installer/ packages/ rtl/ tests/ utils/ Makefile Makefile.fpc Sandeep ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc · 2009-02-19 01:00 You now have the sources. But to be able to compile it you need a starting compiler. That is one single executable (and not part of the source) So you have a chicken and egg problem. IIRC there was a link to download it from the fpc site, but I cannot find it. If you want you can try mine: http://fpc.dommelstein.nl/fpc.2.2.2/compiler/ppc386 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sandeep_c24 · 2009-02-19 05:53 Hi Marc Thanks for that. When I run the command make all opt='-gl -03p3' PP=/home/sandeep/fpc I get make: execvp: /home/myname/fpc: Permission denied I have tried running this command with sudo but still get same result. Sandeep ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2009-02-19 08:55 the file after PP must be the starting compiler executable, not a directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sandeep_c24 · 2009-02-19 09:43 Thanks everyone, I have managed to compile FPC and Lazarus on Kubuntu.
