Can't build from svn sources... lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ghepardo · 2009-01-22 21:39 Hi, forgive me for the stupid question, but for the first time I'm having troubles in building Lazarus. I used to do it on both Windows and openSUSE, but it seems that I can't do it on Ubuntu 8.10. I started by installing the Free Pascal Compiler 2.2.0 from the repositories, with the sources packages too, of course (that's exactly what I do with the other OSes). I then downloaded the SVN tree (from the sourceforge server), ready to make the IDE, and that's the output: make -C lcl all make[1]: Entering directory `/home/me/lazarus/lcl' /bin/rm -f units/i386-linux/alllclunits.ppu /usr/bin/ppc386 -gl -Fu. -Funonwin32 -Fuforms -Fuwidgetset -Fu/usr/lib/fpc/2.2.0/units/i386-linux/rtl -Fiinclude -FE. -FUunits/i386-linux -di386 alllclunits.pp Free Pascal Compiler version 2.2.0 [2008/09/20] for i386 Copyright (c) 1993-2007 by Florian Klaempfl Target OS: Linux for i386 Compiling alllclunits.pp Compiling graphutil.pp Compiling graphics.pp Compiling intfgraphics.pas Compiling lclintf.pas Compiling interfacebase.pp Compiling themes.pas Compiling comctrls.pp Compiling lresources.pp lresources.pp(5123,22) Error: Identifier not found "toWString" lresources.pp(5315) Fatal: There were 1 errors compiling module, stopping Fatal: Compilation aborted make[1]: *** [alllclunits.ppu] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/me/lazarus/lcl' make: *** [lcl] Error 2 I've already checked the include and library paths, and everything seems fine to me... So it's getting quite frustrating. Can anyone help? Thanks a lot ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vincent Snijders · 2009-01-22 21:51 To compile the svn version, you need the latest fpc release: fpc 2.2.2 Note that on ubuntu 8.10 there are additional problems, it uses a relatively new gtk2 version, which doesn't go well with fpc 2.2.2, use fpc 2.2.3 or higher. Alternatively look at this post.
