Installing on Aspire One - package problems lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blue_Painted · 2008-12-03 10:35 I'm trying to install fpc and Lazrus on my new Aspire one. So far I have:- 1) Installed fpc 2.2.2 from the package repository 2) Downloaded "lazarus-0.9.26.i386.rpm" and tried to install that. Failed two dependancies: fpc2.2.2 and fpc src 3) Downloaded fpc-2.2.2-0.i386.rpm and installed this. It worked. 4) Downloaded fpc-2.2.2-0.src.rpm. Linpus package manager refused to install "Cannot install source packages" 5) Downloaded fpc-2.2.2-src.tar.gz and (eventually) unpacked most of it into /user/local/src/fpc-2.2.2-0 The current state: When I try to install lazarus package it stops with message: "Missing Dependancy: fpc-src = 2.2.2 is needed by package lazarus" Any help gratefully received. ps: My Linux experience is measured in days! I have minimal Linux experience ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WibblyTim · 2008-12-03 21:02 The rpm you need is fpc-src-2.2.2-0.i386.rpm, this is available from the Lazarus Sourceforge site. Click on the Download Lazarus link in the Code and Coding section of the main Menu on the Lazarus front page and follow the links. Good luck. Let us know how you get on! Tim. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blue_Painted · 2008-12-03 23:23 Thanks! The rpm I found was named very slightly differently fpc- src-2.2.2-081004.i386.rpm but it installed and that allowed Lazarus to install. Now I've got the same "Lazarus text is all squares" problem as elsewhere on the forum, and a compile error, but getting better. JOOI: Was I confusing the source to build fpc (fpc-2.2.2-0-src.rpm) with "source files used by fpc"?
