Please suggest a Linux for Lazarus lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dodi · 2008-11-10 15:01 I've tried to install Lazarus on several Linux systems, without any success :-( My preferred system currently is openSUSE 10.3 64 bit, but I can install any other Linux in a virtual machine. On said system I'm running into the glib issues, which also has been reported by other users. The linker (correctly) states that no libglib can be found, though I have both glib-1.2 and glib-2.0 installed (standard installation). Should I add a link manually? The FAQ is not very helpful and possibly outdated, e.g. I don't have any -Fu entries in fpc.cfg (fpc 2.2.2). Lazarus installs and runs find on Windows, but since I want to move to Linux, I need Lazarus even there. Please help! You can't install the "bleeding edge" but it works. Lazarus is registered, and there is not particular difficulty. I've also installed Lazarus on the eeePC running its own version of Linux, but it was quite painful, converting rpms etc. In the end, with some obstinacy, it was also successful, but I had to manage the dependencies myself. Best of luck. Happy new year. If this is the same issues that I describe in the other thread, then it can be solved by manually adding a symbolic link. Have a look here: http://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,6125.0.html Personally I have had little luck when installing lazarus from various repositories, but installing from source works great once all little compile issues are sorted out.
