No terminal when running console application :-(

I've rebuild Lazarus for GTK2 on my Ubuntu 8.04 but when running
console apps no terminal appears on the screen. I've tried to make
swithes in "Run Options" but no effect.
It's very inconvinient for me to have such problem. Please answer me
as fast as you can :roll:

Is the program actually running? May be it fails before it opens the
console  :?

Does a simple "Hello, world" program run? You know:Code:
[Select]PROGRAM hello;

BEGIN
  WriteLn ('Hello, World!');
END.

It runs and says something like "Program finished" after finishing.
But if i insert i.e. "readkey" operator application stops and waits
for key pressing. But terninal window doesn't appear at this moment.
It doesn't appear at all
