Lazarus on OpenSuse 10.3 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nrousselca · 2008-03-10 02:28 Hi, I used Lazarus and FPC on Windows for manay years now. I have to install it on a Linux system. I am not so familiar with Opensuse.  Does anyone would be kind enough to explaine me the exact procedure on how to install Lazarus i386 on Opensuse 10.3 (Gnome, KDE or both) Thanks for helping. Norm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bart · 2008-03-10 15:11 Download the rpm's for lazarus, fpc and fpc source. Install them using rpm -Uvh .rpm You might get an error about gtk+ devel. On Suse this is called gtk- devel AFAIK, and I think it is on the DVD, so you can install it via yast. Take a look at the wiki page about installing. Try it, post back problems, so we can help. Bart ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nrousselca · 2008-03-12 00:41 Hi, I do get a gtk error. The  information on wiki are for OpenSuse 10.1 Are the mentioned version  still valid for 10.3 ? Thanks for helping Norm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- theo · 2008-03-12 11:16 Are gdk-pixbuf-devel and all dependencies installed? See also (German): http://www.lazarusforum.de/kb.php?mode=article&k;=15 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bart · 2008-03-12 11:54 Take a look at this thread, you seem to have the same problems as I had on 10.0. Install the gtk-1.2.rpm (note: there is no "+" in the packagename on Suse) and glib-devel (see the thread as to where to find these), then install Lazarus again. If it only complains about not gt+ library, then now install via rpm -Uvh --nodeps lazarus.rpm, this tells rpm to ignore the "missing" dependency. Bart ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nrousselca · 2008-03-12 20:35 Hi, I am getting exactly where I was a few years ago with Unix/Linux/: fooling around with missing library. Developper's (installer) freindly is a concept that as yet not migrate on Lazarus with Opensuse. It is not the case for OpenOffice, Firebird or other with opensuse, why? I just hope some days... Back to the keyboard (no mouse): I have try:  rpm -Uvh gtk-pixbuf-0.22.0-230.i586.rpm (avaliable on DVD) with as result:  missing libgdk lib (witch is kind of hard to find and not on the DVD). I will gave it a few mor try. thanks and best regards to all.
