Compiling svn sources lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ghepardo · 2008-01-31 19:12 Hi, I hope not to annoy all of you, because my question is probably a very stupid one, so if it's the case forgive me! Well I'm new to Linux, because I started playing around with it just a couple of weeks ago, but I think I know Object Pascal because I've got 11 years of working experience with Delphi. I'm very interested in you project and I hope that I will eventually reach a knowledge where I will eventually start to be useful to this community, but as for now it seems that I'm experiencing some problems... I'm using openSUSE 10.3 here, and I've managed to download the svn tree (well fisrt of all I've installed he fpc compiler and sources RPMs) on my local home, I mnaged to make the whole project too (which is quite an accomplishment for me!). I've compiled the IDE myself because I was experiencing a problem with the snapshot, and I hoped to solve it by compiling from the sources (of course I've not solved it at all). The problem is that running the IDE under my GNOME enviroment the widgets are looking strange, reminding me of the time of some x-windows server which I saw at the high school. The openSUSE package from the repository works fine instead, but it's not updated. I'm thinking about possible linking problems, but I really have no idea about what I should do or check. Can you help me? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bee · 2008-02-01 04:38 See Configure Build menu item on Tools menu. On Configure dialog, make sure you select LCL interface and IDE to gtk2, then rebuild the IDE. If everything goes well, you should see IDE restart itself and running on gtk2. gtk2 is the default widgetset on modern Gnome environment. Good luck! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ghepardo · 2008-02-01 20:28 Thanks a lot! Your words were precious to me, now the IDE looks right! Now I have no excuses to delay some development with this great platform!
