make clean all OS_TARGT=win32 lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2007-12-21 12:56 Hello. I installed fpc 2.2.0 and and fpc-crosswin32 rpm on OpenSUSE 10.3. When trying to compile Lazarus IDE for making win32 executables, by "make clean all OS_TARGET=win32" (according to instructions on the wiki), I get following error: " Compiling cleandirdlg.pas main.pp(1110,35) Warning: Constructing a class "TPkgManager" with abstract methods lazarus.pp(114,1) Error: resource compiler not found, switching to external mode lazarus.pp(114,1) Fatal: There were 1 errors compiling module, stopping Fatal: Compilation aborted make[2]: *** [lazarus.exe] Greąka 1 make[2]: Izlazim iz direktorija `/home/zlatko/Programs/lazarus/ide' make[1]: *** [ide] Greąka 2 make[1]: Izlazim iz direktorija `/home/zlatko/Programs/lazarus/ide' make: *** [ide] Greąka 2 zlatko@linux:~/Programs/lazarus> " How to solve this error about "resource compiler"? Thanks, Zlatko ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2007-12-21 17:44 I suppose I have to configure /etc/fpc.cfg file properly... If someone uses fpccrosswin32 on Linux, preferably on OpenSuse, please send me your fpc.cfg file on the following e-mail: matalab@gmail.com in order to compare it with my fpc.cfg. Thanks, Zlako ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2007-12-23 13:41 OK, I figured out that I need to rename /usr/bin/windres to /usr/bin/i386-win32-windres in order to be able to finish "make clean all OS_TARGET=win32". But, when I open my project in Lazarus-IDE and try to compile it for Windows, I get following error: planingz.lpr(41,1) Error: resource compiler not found, switching to external mode What now? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- osvaldo-tcf · 2007-12-25 17:55 I use wine, ;-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tatamata · 2007-12-27 18:11 Hi. Yes, I suppose it is an option. .. I successfully installed 0.9.25 dev snapshot on Wine 0.9.51. Although it seems it can easily be installed and compile pojects, when I try to install a new component, it seems to freeze. I lost my patience after several hours of "compiling...". Components to be installed: zeoslib, rxfpc... Actually, it freezes when comes to "Compiling resource lazarus.rc", during rebuilding. What is your experience about installing components? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- osvaldo-tcf · 2007-12-28 15:00 no problem here. ubuntu gutsy + wine and several components: uib2.1 lazreport zeos 6.2 beta rxnew ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nelson777 · 2008-06-02 17:07 Tatamata: I got the same windres problem. Where do you get the original windres ? I haven't find any permanent solution for that, but the temporary solution is the following. In the lazarus.pp (/home/nelson777/.wine/drive_c/lazarus/ide/lazarus.pp) switch off the $IFDEF WINDOWS, something like this: program Lazarus; {$mode objfpc}{$H+} {$I ide.inc} //Switched off by Zlatko Matic. {off $IFDEF WINDOWS}   {off $R lazarus.rc} {off $ENDIF} {off $DEFINE IDE_MEM_CHECK} This trick works. You will be able to compile and install different new components, as well as to compile your projects. But, you will realize that you must close and reopen the IDE after installing a component, in order to see newly installed component. It is somehow annoying, but it works! Best regards, Zlatko P.S. It is pity that Lazarus core developers don't realize potential of Windows version of Lazarus to become the true multiplatform RAD, in conjunction to Wine emulator. Wine has been increasingly and rapidly maturing. Since version 0.9.60 it can run most Windows applications. If someone fixes this annoying issue with windres, Windows version of Lazarus installation could become a great multiplatform RAD tool. It has many advantages comparing to Linux version of Lazarus. Since Lazarus/FPC compiled .exe files can run on Linux and BSDs via Wine (almost native speed) it is obviously much comfortable to develop in Linux or FreeBSD using Windows version of Lazarus, than to cross compile.... Vincent, please, make some effort to solve it with Wine comunity!!!:)
