Some newbies on this forum would only have some very few (but
pertinent) help in order to start with lazarus on linux. But they did
not got any reply... Before this new attempt with lazarus/linux (the
third within 3 years) I heard many times that linux is hard to deal
with for installing extra applications, but community is very
helpfull. I that exact ?

The community is generally helpful, but requires smart questions to
give smart answers. Also, this is a community and not a 7 x 24 hour
support center with guarenteed reponse times, but a friendly commnity
helping people in their free time.

Vincent, I perfectly agree with you. I apologize if you think I take
community as free providers. But as long as  a hard and consistent
help could not be fastly brought to newbies requiring urgent help
(time run very quicly), Linux and/or Lazarus will only be for expert
hobbysts or teenaggers palying with their free time. These
considerations are not, of courese, writing only for me.

Yes and no.

Linux: no
Ubuntu for example is good for my grandma since she use it for web
browsing, e-mail, document editing, hear music, etc. All those stuff
normal people do.

Lazarus: yes
Those who want to develop applications need to lear more stuff such
windows managers, libraries, how to install linux packages in the
selected distribution, etc.

Businesses can come here too and will have the same help.
