SAM Linux lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazaruX · 2007-10-12 12:45 How do I install Lazarus and freepascal on SAM Linux? Which packages do I need to download? How do I install it? Is there any kind of file like the windows install.ex/setup.exe? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- anthony · 2007-10-13 07:58 I do not know SAM Linux but it is a Live CD. I do not see modules that can be added to SAM Linux. I think you have three options: 1) you want to use SAM Linux. Install it  on your harddisk and also install     fpc-2.0.4-0.i586.rpm       fpc-docs-2.0.4-0.i586.rpm     fpc-src-2.0.4-0.i386.rpm         lazarus-0.9.22-0.i386.rpm   2) you require a Live Linux CD         use the Slax SE 5.1.8.1.iso and burn it on a CD         add the module Lazarus IDE & Free Pascal Compiler 0.9.14-FPC2.02 to the CD 3) you want Linux and Lazarus on your PC and an easy install         install Mandriva 2008.0         add Lazarus using urpmi Success! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazaruX · 2007-10-13 20:04 Hi, well I have downloaded those files and then as root I have extracted them in the usr folder, but now Lazarus only appears in the root menu, and also when I compile a normal application it gives an error lib unit no t fount"or something like that. How do I solve those problems ---------------------------------------------------------------------- anthony · 2007-10-14 21:22 1) What do you mean with "root menu"? 2) You must be more specific then "something like that" How can we answer your question with the information you provide? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LazaruX · 2007-10-15 18:08 Ok, OK, I have now installed Lazarus doing like this: Logged in as Root Opened Terminal rpm -Uvh fpc-2.0.4-0.i586.rpm rpm -Uvh fpcsrc-2.0.4-0.i386.rpm rpm -Uvh lazarus-0.9.22-0.i386.rpm It then worked on both root and user, but I could not compile, I had a message lib needed, then libXi,...and others, I have installed them from the SAM Linux installation menu And now it works fine. Then I wanted to install the PowerPDF component, so I logged in as root and went in the /usr/lib/lazarus/components directory, there I have compied the folder PowerPDF, then I have opened the folder and installed the package using the .LPK file. Everything went ok, but now I can compile tonly as root, when I try to open Lazarus as normal user I get an error that some components of the Project (powerPDF components) cannot be loaded. I am asked for: Continue, Stop all loading, stop loading this resource. whatever I click lazarus hangs there. How can I solve this now? P.S. Why isn there a simple way in Linux to install something, like the install.exe files in Windows? P.S anthony, with root menu I meant the root Start Menu, you know where all the programs are.
