Building Lazarus lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ozoltan · 2007-09-19 14:41 I am using OpenSuse 10.2, I've installed fpc 2.0.4, the sources too. When I try to install a new component into Lazarus, then it compiles it with no problem, but when trying to build Lazarus, it creahes with the next error message (from link.res): compiling..... Compiling /usr/lib/lazarus/components/mpaslex/mpaslex.pp Compiling codeexplorer.pas Compiling codeexplopts.pas Compiling buildfiledlg.pas Compiling procedurelist.pas Compiling extractprocdlg.pas Compiling findrenameidentifier.pas Compiling cleandirdlg.pas Linking ../lazarus /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lpthread lazarus.pp(119,1) Error: Error while linking make[2]: *** [lazarus] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/lib/lazarus/ide' make[1]: *** [ide] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/lib/lazarus/ide' make: *** [ide] Error 2 Please help to build Lazarus, it's vital to be albe to install components! Thanks for Your help! Zoltán ---------------------------------------------------------------------- antonio · 2007-09-19 15:58 Do you know what is lpthread? Do you find directory /usr/bin/ld on your system? Have you seen this thread? http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtop ic&t=4282&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ozoltan · 2007-09-20 05:52 I've read that thread, You're mentioning, but I don't think that this is the same problem. I've tried this with Lazarus 0.9.20 and 0.9.22, but I have the same problem. I've checked /usr/bin/ld linker is installed, I've checked that FreePascal contains a directory /usr/lib/fpc/2.0.4/units/i385-linux. I think that the problem migth be the letter S, because unit pthreadS exist, but unit pthread doesn't. I'm thinkig of a mispelling. Please help, I can't use Lazarus if I can't build it! Thanks! OZoltan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-09-20 06:41 This is on the FAQ: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_Faq#I_receive_an_error_duri ng_the_linking_that_states_.2Fusr.2Fbin.2Fld_can.27t_find_- l.3Csome_lib.3E I don't know which devel lib includes -lpthreads, but I think someone else already had this problem before. Searching on the forum might reveal a solution. I would try either libpthreads-dev or libglib-dev (or -devel depending on distribution) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ozoltan · 2007-09-20 07:51 I know about libraries on linux. As far as I know for ld the -lpthread parameter means that it should search for the pthread library. pthreadS library exist in /usr/lib/fpc/2.0.4/units/i386-linux/pthreads directory. I think there is a mispelling in the script. Everywhere it referres to this library it referres to as pthreadS, with letter S at the end, but when I try to rebuild Lazarus, it says /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lpthread, so it calls that library without letter S ![/u][/i] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ozoltan · 2007-09-20 09:07 I've resolved the problem. GLibc-devel and X11*-devel packages were not installed. Installing all these packages resolved the problem Thanks For Your Help! OZoltan
