Mouse cursor : crNone doesn´t work ! lazarus / 1-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danthorpe · 2007-08-23 18:21 Hi all, I´m trying to disappear with the mouse cursor inside my application, using : Screen.Cursor := crNone; However, it doesn´t seem to be working. If I use crHourglass, or crDefault it does change, but crNone it doesn´t disappear. Anybody can help me ? I´m with Lazarus 0.9.22 and SuSe 10 Thanks in advance ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-08-23 18:57 AFAIK this is fixed on the development 0.9.23 version. So use a development version (read the instructions on the wiki about how to download lazarus form svn and compile, or use a snapshot). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danthorpe · 2007-08-24 13:08 I used the snapshot from yesterday, but I got the same result .. it does nothing !! Did you got this working on the snapshot version ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-08-24 13:59 I use the subversion code, but that should be the same as the snapshot. Somethings you could try: 1 - Instead of setting Screen.Cursor, set MyForm.Cursor or even MyControl.Cursor 2 - Try using gtk2 and gtk 1. I only use gtk2, so maybe there is some difference between how both work about this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fredz · 2007-08-24 14:52 Screen.Cursor doesn't work on my machine either for crNone, but it does work for widgets in GTK and GTK2 both at runtime (Self.Cursor := crNone) and design time (using -1 in the cursor field). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danthorpe · 2007-08-24 15:33 Sorry, dummy question, but how do I know ( and change ) the gtk version I'm using ? I've tried both ways (Screen.Cursor, runtime and design time) and it didn't work ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fredz · 2007-08-27 21:44 Weird it didn't work on your machine, can you reproduce exactly the problem presented here : http://www.freepascal.org/mantis/view.php?id=8962 ? To use GTK or GTK2, go to Project | Compiler options | Path | LCL Widget Type and select the widget type you want to use. If it still doesn't work, you could try to recompile (Clean+Build) the LCL (and only the LCL) for the widget type you want. It's in Tools | Configure build Lazarus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danthorpe · 2007-09-03 13:52 Man, this is giving me a hard time !! I've tried all the suggestions, downloaded the latest snapshot, changed the GTK, used Screen.Cursor, -1,  ... still doesn't work ... the only thing I didn't do is test it with the latest FPC (I'm using the 2.0.4..), but I'll download it at night and test with it ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-09-03 14:10 Did you try instead using: MyForm.Cursor := crNone; or MyPanel.Cursor := crNone; i.e. set the cursor for a Widget (TPanel, TButton, TStaticText, etc), or for a Form (TForm)? Like Fredz suggested ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danthorpe · 2007-09-03 14:35 Yeah, tried that ... no deal ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- felipemdc · 2007-09-03 14:46 For me it works. Maybe it would be an interresting test if you could download the subversion source for the magnifier (which I know for sure has cursor hiding working): http://sourceforge.net/projects/magnifier Build it for gtk2 on your machine and see if hiding the cursor works in this software. I use lazarus from subversion, as described here: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Getting_Lazarus#Getting_SVN To build lazarus after downloading the source is a trivial job. Just: make clean all To build lcl for gtk2 do: make lcl LCL_PLATFORM=gtk2 and to start it ./lazarus ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danthorpe · 2007-09-03 14:51 Ok Sekel, I'll try it today ... I'll download it at night (it's noon here ...) and test it tomorrow ... I'll post as soon as I test it, thanks ...
